by | Nov 20, 2025

Beaufort County, S.C.Spartina 449, a nationally recognized lifestyle and accessories brand, has announced plans to expand its headquarters within the Bluffton Village Town Center. The Town of Bluffton, in partnership with Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation (BCEDC), supported the project through local incentive programs.

The new, state-of-the-art facility will total approximately 14,100 square feet and serve as a modern hub for operations, collaboration, and design innovation. The company plans to break ground on the project in the fourth quarter of 2025.

This expansion represents a capital investment of $6.1 million and is expected to create approximately 15 new jobs over the next five years. These positions will offer an average wage of $40.71 per hour, boosting local job growth while supporting talent retention in the Lowcountry.

“This announcement highlights Bluffton’s continued momentum as a place where companies choose to grow. Spartina 449’s investment strengthens our economy and adds high-quality jobs for residents.” – John O’Toole, Executive Director of the Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation

To support the project, BCEDC awarded Spartina 449 a $30,000 grant, and the Town of Bluffton also authorized incentives under its economic development ordinance, an estimated incentive of $196,487. This program, administered through the Town of Bluffton, allows eligible companies to receive grants equal to up to 50% of permitting fees, up to 100% of BJWSA capacity fees, and up to 50% of business license fees for up to five years.

“Spartina 449 was born from the quiet beauty of Daufuskie Island and thrives today on the creative spirit of Bluffton. What began as a local idea has grown into a national luxury brand, and the Bluffton community is proud that Spartina 449 continues to grow right where its story began.” – Mayor Larry Toomer

“As a local Bluffton resident, I am thrilled to have our new office headquarters located here in our thriving historic town. Supporting Bluffton and our low country surroundings is at the heart of what we design and do every day as a company.” – Kay Stanley, Founder of Spartina 449.
